A major transportation funding bill will be up for final action next week in the South Dakota legislature. The proposal calls for about fifty million dollars in tax and fee increases to provide the money for state and local road work.
Governor Dennis Daugaard says there is no gurantee the bill will pass.
Daugaard says he has always known it would be difficult to pass that big a tax hike.
Daugaard says he believes they have made a good case to support the bill.
The original proposal from a summer study committee called for one hundred million dollars in fee and tax increases.
