Transportation Bill Looms

As Congress returns from the August break this week, one major issue that needs attention is the transportation bill.

The Senate passed a three year extension before they adjourned, but the House has resisted any similar bill.

One big sticking point is how to fund the bill.

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says he suggested a compromise that would use dollars raised under the Marketplace  Fairness Act, the proposed internet tax…

Rounds says under his plan, the state would see more money to use on their transportation projects…

Rounds says his plan may also be a spur to move the Marketplace Fairness Act…

There has been a noticeable lack of support in Congress for raising the federal gas tax.
