One of the major proposals waiting for South Dakota legislators next month is a massive bill that would increase a range of taxes and fees related to roads and transportation.
Dave Owen, President of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says the increases range across the board.

Owen says the proposal restructures the way the state funds roads from the county level on up.

The bill would raise taxes and fees about one hundred million dollars a year. Owen says he doesn’t think it will be dead on arrival.

Sponsors of the bill have said the actual need is more like one hundred forty million dollars a year.
