The South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee approved the Governors transportation funding bill. (SB1).(this morning)

The bill was amended before it passed. Senator Billie Sutton of Burke added an amendment ending the yearly two cent increase in the gas tax in 2023 instead of 2030…

Another amendment limiting the percentage increase in registration fees for non-commercial vehicles was approved, but one adding extra fees for hybrid vehicles was defeated.

Senator Tim Rave of Baltic says the bill is still a work in progress…

The bill, which has already been through the Transportation Committee, and would raise about fifty two million dollars, will now head to the Senate floor. The summer study committee had recommended about one hundred million dollars in fee and tax increases.
