The big transportation bill that South Dakota lawmakers have been kicking around will be back before the House State Affairs Committee again today.

Representative Mike Stevens of Yankton says the details of the bill have not yet been settled…

The bill, as originally written, would have raised taxes and fees by a little over fifty million dollars to fund road and bridge construction and maintenance.

A big part of the bill is an increase in the gas tax. Stevens says that increase has to be in step with states around South Dakota…

Governor Dennis Daugaard, at his briefing on Friday, said he was concerned that a funding bill may not pass at all. Stevens says he thinks it has to be done this session…

While this is the final full week of the 2015 session, legislators have one final day reserved for March 30th.
