The developer of TransCanada’s Keystone XL Oil Pipeline intends to meet with landowners this week along their planned route in Nebraska, South Dakota and Montana. Company Spokesman Matt John says TransCanada will make financial offers to landowners along the proposed route. Neligh, Nebraska farmer Art Tanderup, who’s opposed the project since 2012, is skeptical about the company’s bonus offers and continues to oppose the pipeline being built.
He says the company keeps having environmental problems and he is doubtful about the project ever being completed.
Tanderup is also questioning the benefits of the construction completion bonus the company is planning to offer landowners.
TransCanada’s Matt John says they still hope to begin construction in early 2019. Meanwhile, a lawsuit has been filed in Nebraska by landowners challenging the Nebraska Public Service Commission’s decision to approve a route through the state.
