Trans Canada officials say despite recent setbacks they are continuing with their plans to build the Keystone XL Pipeline. Last week President Obama vetoed legislation approving the project and a Nebraska District Court granted an injunction ending Trans Canada’s use of eminent domain to acquire land for the pipeline. Trans Canada’s Mark Cooper says they’re not giving up on their project.’
Cooper also says that his company has already obtained most of their easements for Keystone XL so they’re not concerned with the recent injunctions putting a temporary hold on eminent domain.
Cooper says despite the recent veto of national legislation, he’s confident the President will eventually give the go ahead to Keystone XL.
Cooper says the economic benefits of the Keystone XL pipeline include 9,000 construction jobs, 42,100 direct and indirect jobs as well as hundreds of millions of dollars in property taxes.
