The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission voted this week to support the re-certification of the Keystone XL oil pipeline route. Trans Canada had not started construction within four years of the original grant, so had to come back to the commission.
Chairman Chris Nelson says despite the lack of a Presidential permit to cross the border, they can’t be sure of what will happen with a new administration….
Nelson says they felt Trans Canada followed state law in the process…..
Nelson says it appears that the certification of the pipeline route is valid indefinitely…..
Trans Canada has now started legal action against the US government seeking damages for the permit rejection.
