One person died and another was seriously injured early Friday morning in a one-vehicle crash north of Lesterville, S.D.
Names of the two people are not being released pending notification of family members.
A 2005 Chrysler Pacifica was eastbound on 295th Street when the driver lost control on the gravel road. The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled.
The 24-year-old male passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The male driver, 31, suffered life threatening injuries. He was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital. It is unknown whether he was wearing a seatbelt.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were Yankton County Sheriff’s Office, Yankton County Fire Department and Yankton County Emergency Medical Services.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. She was the only occupant.
A 2003 Dodge Caravan was eastbound on 248th Street approaching a curve when the driver lost control. The vehicle went into the ditch, rolled and started on fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known whether she was wearing a seatbelt.
