Trade is the top issue as Nebraska hosts the Midwest US – Japan Association Conference.

Governor Pete Ricketts says those attending the conference don’t have any direct input into the trade negotiations between the United States and Japan, but he says the discussions remain vital to trade between the Midwest and Japan

President Trump rejected the Trans Pacific Partnership…T-P-P…a trade deal with several southeastern Asia countries. Trump has called on farmers to be patient while the administration works out trade deals.

Ricketts says he doesn’t sense that the patience of farmers is running out.

Japan is the top trading partner with Nebraska outside North America, the number one market for Nebraska beef, pork, and eggs.
