A round table discussion in Valley, Nebraska this week was hosted by U.S. Trade Ambassador Michael Froman and Congressman Brad Ashford. Nebraska Farm Bureau First Vice President Mark McHargue who runs a farrow to wean operation near Central City says the prime topic covered was Trade Promotion Authority and the administration’s push for asking Congress to approve that.

McHargue says Froman updated the group on the TPP negotiations. He says the Ambassador told them they’re working with Japan to solve market access issues that have held up the agreement.

McHargue says both TPP and the Trans Atlantic agreements hold great promise for the ag and overall economies.

McHargue says America’s producers have become so efficient and productive that exports are needed for their industry to thrive.
