Farm Bureau members are focused on trade and agricultural labor at their 100th annual convention this week in New Orleans. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal says they supported the H2-C program introduced in the House, but it never got any traction.
President Donald Trump addressed the ag labor concerns while speaking at the convention this week, and Farm Bureau members agreed with the President on the need for a border wall.
VanderWal says they also support the President’s push to get the USMCA ratified but don’t agree the original NAFTA was a failure.
He says members are concerned about the partial government shutdown, but many think the President is right in calling for border security.
