 Ten Coyote men and five Coyote women recorded wins on Saturday as the South Dakota track and field teams hosted the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet in the DakotaDome. Two South Dakota State women had victories in field events.

The USD men won five of six field events, winning all but the pole vault. In jumps, Hank Lentsch and Tyler Frank tied for first in the high jump with marks of 6 feet, 4¾ inches, Jeff O’Connell added a win in the long jump with a 23-1¼ mark and Connor Fitzsimmons won the triple jump at 44-4¼. In throws, Cody Snyder recorded a win in the shot put (59-5) and Denton Stephens won the weight throw (58-1¼)

Five runners and a relay team recorded wins on the track for the Coyote men. Teivaskie Lewin placed first in the 200-meters in 22.06 seconds, Casey Shade recorded a win in the 800 in 1:54.18 and Erik Hill won the 60 hurdles in 8.28.  The Coyotes also won the 4×400 relay (3:22.85).

In distance events, Jeff Mettler and Brant Haase placed first and second respectively in both the mile and 3,000. Mettler finished the mile in 4:14.80 and the 3,000 in 8:40.08, while Haase finished the mile in 4:19.64 and the 3,000 in 8:44.75.

On the women’s side, Megan Glisar and Bethany Firsick recorded wins in the high jump and pole vault, respectively. Glisar won with a mark of 5-10½, topping SDSU’s Mary Wirth by four inches. Glisar remains third on the national performance list for the event with a best jump of 6-0½ this season

Firsick won the pole vault with a 14-1¾ mark, beating teammate Emily Grove on jumps. That height puts Firsick sixth on the national performance list, while Grove ranks third with a best vault of 14-3¼.

On the track, Amber Eichkorn won a pair of events, taking the mile in 5:03.21 and the 3,000 in 10:23.38.  Tess Johnson added a win in the 800 in 2:20.76, Amber Ewers took the 400 title in 58.16 and the 4×400 relay won in 3:58.03.

Amy Paulzine and Shelby Assmus each claimed individuals for SDSU  Paulzine won the weight throw, while Assmus won the shot put event.

Paulzine bested her old personal mark in the weight throw in the process of winning on Saturday afternoon. At USD, Paulzine tallied a distance of 57 feet, .25 inches to take the weight throw title. Her old mark was 53-9. She now ranks fifth all-time in the weight throw, just less than inch shy of Assmus (57-1).

Also in the weight throw, Assmus placed runner-up with her mark of 55-10 1Ž4. Trisha Sumption also set a personal best on the afternoon in the weight throw with her distance of 47-11 3Ž4; Sumption placed eighth in the event.

Assmus won the shot put with her final mark of 45-3 3Ž4.
