– The semifinal round of the 2014 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Volleyball Tournament was completed on Wednesday night.  Top seed Northwestern and second seed Midland each posted a 3-1 win to set up the GPAC Championship Match on Saturday night.

In Orange City, Iowa, #1 seed Northwestern defeated fourth seed Concordia in 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21), while in Fremont #2  seed Midland also won by score of 3-1 over #3 seed Dordt (25-11, 21-25, 25-16, 25-19).

Northwestern, ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, will now host sixth ranked Midland at the Bultman Center in Orange City on Saturday night at 7:30.  The two have played twice on the season both won by Northwestern (3-0, 3-1).

The 2014 GPAC Volleyball Tournament features eight teams.  The winner of the tournament receives the league’s automatic berth to the NAIA National Volleyball Championship.  The GPAC receives one automatic berth this year because the conference is below 12 NAIA volleyball teams.

The NAIA National Volleyball Championship will begin on Saturday, November 22, with opening round matches at 12 campus sites across the country.  The top 11 teams in the country and Sioux City local host institution will automatically advance to the NAIA National Volleyball Championship, presented by J&L Enterprises, in Sioux City, Iowa, at the Tyson Events Center December 2-6, 2014.  The top eleven in the NAIA final poll, and the local Sioux City host team (Briar Cliff), will be joined by the 12 winners of the opening round matches which will be played on November 22.
