Timberwolves Release Center

The Minnesota Timberwolves have waived Ukrainian center Kyrylo Fesenko.

The Timberwolves announced the move on Monday. Fesenko played in one preseason game and only managed three minutes. He was hoping to earn a spot with the Wolves or another team so he could bring his family over to the United States from Ukraine, where the government has been clashing with pro-Russian separatists for months.

The 7-foot-1 Fesenko averaged 8.4 points and 5.2 rebounds with the Timberwolves in summer league play.

But the Wolves already have Nikola Pekovic, Gorgui Dieng and Ronny Turiaf in the post, which left no room for Fesenko.
