The Timberwolves drafted Arizona’s Lauri Markkanen with the No. 7 overall pick for the Chicago Bulls after the two teams agreed to a blockbuster deal that sends three-time All-Star Jimmy Butler to Minnesota.
The deal involves the Bulls sending Butler and the No. 16 pick for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the seventh pick.
The 16th overall pick which the Bulls selected for the T-Wolves is former Creighton 7-foot center Justin Patton who is leaving the Bluejays after one season of college basketball.
Butler, a 6-7 guard, averaged 23.9 points per game for the Bulls last season.
LaVine, a two time NBA dunk champion, averaged 18.9 points for Minnesota while limited to 47 games by a knee injury last season.
