South Dakota Senator John Thune, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, used a floor speech to urge his colleagues to pass the Developing a Reliable and Innovative Vision for the Economy (DRIVE) Act, a bipartisan, multi-year transportation bill.

Thune says the multiple, short term bills don’t allow the states to do much planning.

Thune says it would be easier just to pass another extension.

There is still disagreement on the funding source for the bill. The current extension runs out at the end of the month.
