SD Senator John Thune Talks About Inflation Reduction Act During Dakotafest

South Dakota Senator John Thune attended Dakotafest and spoke with WNAX radio about the recently passed, and controversial, “Inflation Reduction Act”.  The vote was along party lines with Democrats securing the measure with the deciding vote cast by Vice President Kamala Harris.  Thune says the bill is a misnomer.  Many people tend to vote based on the economy.  With higher food prices and high fuel costs, Thune was asked if the upcoming mid-term elections may be beneficial for the Republican party.  Earlier in the year, Thune along with Minnesota Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar were successful in having the Ocean Shipping Reform Act be passed.  The goal is to improve the supply chain issues, and to have ships leave our ports with U-S goods, and set sail empty.  Thune says since the passage of the bill, he believes the situation has improved.
