When the new Congress convenes early next year, South Dakota Senator John Thune will be in line to become the Chairman of the Commerce Committee.
Thune says it is something he will pursue.

Thune says he would welcome the opportunity.

Former Senator Larry Pressler also chaired the Commerce Committee in the 1990s.
