Nebraska Corrections Director Scott Frakes says a thorough evaluation of the needs of the Department of Correctional Services is well underway, though it has been interrupted.

Frakes says he appreciates the concern expressed by legislators about the security of Nebraska prisons in wake of the escape of two inmates from the Lincoln Correctional Center.

But, Frakes says he doesn’t want to change how he plans to spend the extra 1-point-5 Million dollars appropriated by the Unicameral for this year. . .

State lawmakers want Governor Pete Ricketts to act immediately to shore up security at Nebraska prisons.

Ricketts says he remains confident in Corrections Director Scott Frakes as he attempts to change the culture at Corrections. . .

Lawmakers wrote the governor requesting action in wake of the escape of two inmates from the Lincoln Correctional Center earlier this month. Both have been returned to custody
