The Wynot School District (in northeast Nebraska) is planning a two point two-million-dollar addition to its building. Superintendent Jeff Messersmith says the new construction will help the school meet the needs of a growing student body

Messersmith says Wynot is growing. Seven homes are being built currently—many by families. He hopes the expansion will also attract students from neighboring districts, something that has already been happening

Current plans would add seven classrooms. Messersmith says they will include spaces for music, art and special education. An expansion to the preschool is also planned, as well as a library and a fitness center that will be open to the community.
The school board left the question of whether they could release bonds to pay for the project up to the community. A mail vote is underway.
Ballots were mailed out last week and are due July 12. If voters approve it, they will raise the current property tax levy 2 cents.
