The Senate approved a short term continuing resolution Wednesday night to keep the federal government funded into the new fiscal year.
South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says it carries the government past the election.

Rounds says the Senate would normally adjourn until after the election but that is uncertain right now.

Negotiations are continuing on a possible next round of stimulus payments.
