The University of Nebraska Medical Center received a $5.5-million grant from the Leona M and Harry B Hemsley Charitable Trust that will be used to purchase four custom mobile simulation health training trucks and 20 simulator mannequins to provide training in rural areas. Shelly Stingley is the Rural Health Care Program director and says they will be especially helpful for rural emergency medical providers and hospitals.
Stingley says they will be a huge benefit by providing critical training.
Each unit will be outfitted to recreate an emergency room or an ambulance as close to reality as possible. Trainers will also bring real life, on-site emergency scenarios to rural health care providers. The new units are expected to arrive in January.
