Varying views on the EPA’s RFS volume proposal for 2017 were given today at the agency’s hearing in Kansas City. Iowa Renewable Fuels Executive Director Monte Shaw in his testimony referred to history as he asked the EPA to increase the volume standards to the statutory levels set by Congress.

American Coalition for Ethanol Senior Vice President Ron Lamberty in his testimony said the so called blend wall is already being surmounted and also called for the EPA to put the 2017 renewable fuel volume standards at the statutory level.

Patrick Kelly, Senior Fuels Policy Advisor for the American Petroleum Institute has a different take on the EPA volume proposal for 2017. He says the EPA needs to reduced the volumes further in their 2017 proposal that the RFS needs to be repealed.

The EPA is expected to finalize their 2017 RFS volume levels November 30 of this year.
