Texting 9-1-1 is now available statewide in Minnesota. 9-1-1 program manager Dana Wahlberg says the new program is exciting and useful, but should still be viewed as a secondary option.
Wahlberg says to use simple words, no abbreviations, emojis, pictures or slang and always type an exact address into the initial message. And if the dispatcher has any questions, answer them promptly and follow any additional instructions.
