Two teachers in South Dakota received recognition from President Obama this week.
The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching is awarded annually to outstanding K-12 science and mathematics teachers from across the country. The winners are selected by a panel of distinguished scientists, mathematicians, and educators following an initial selection process done at the state level.

Wagner says while she enjoys working with the kids in her school, this coming year will be her last as she plans to retire next spring.
The math teaching winner was Lindsey Brewer of Huron High School. The winners will be recognized at a White House ceremony later this summer.
