Teacher Supply Falling in South Dakota

As a number of school districts in the state scramble to fill teaching vacancies for this fall, it looks like it could take some time to fill the gap.
Low teacher pay is causing a number of high school and college students to look at other career choices.
Rob Monson is Executive Director of the School Administrators of South Dakota, and says the pipeline is rapidly drying up.

Monson says teacher shortages in other states will have an impact in South Dakota.

While the Blue Ribbon task force on education is studying the issue, Monson is not very optimistic.

Monson says applications for teaching positions have dropped greatly in the last few years.
