A guiding hand early in a teacher’s career can be critical to keeping people in the profession.
Robin Wiebers is Assistant Dean of the School of Education at the University of South Dakota, and Director of the Professional Development Center.

She says their program matches a mentor teacher with someone new to the profession.

Wiebers made a presentation to the Yankton School Board this week.

She says they also help teachers advance in their learning process.

Wiebers says they have found the PDC program can help keep young teachers in the classroom.

She says the program helps young teachers how to better manage their time and their classrooms.
