Tax filing season is winding down, and according to the IRS, about 62 percent of South Dakotans have filed their federal income taxes. Karen Connelly is the IRS Spokesperson for Minnesota and South Dakota, and she says filing electronically will help residents cut down on the number of mistakes that could be made on a tax return form.
Connelly says that about 25 percent of residents will procrastinate and wait to file until the final days before April 15th. She says that an extension can be filed to push the deadline to October.
She suggests that those filing a federal tax return to not procrastinate, because that tends to cause errors on tax forms.
