A tax cut package that can attract the votes necessary to pass the Nebraska Unicameral has been difficult to come by this legislative session.

Senator Jim Smith of Papillion, chair of the Revenue Committee, is working to craft a measure that combines property tax relief with a cut to the income tax. . .

Smith says a cut to the state income tax would be a step toward helping small businesses grow in Nebraska.

Governor Pete Ricketts it will take the right combination to attract the votes needed to pass. . .

Ricketts says there is no way to provide property tax relief this session without including some sort of cut to the state income tax.
