A Taiwanese trade team is in South Dakota this week touring farms, a grain elevator and an ethanol plant. The team stopped at the Ryan Wagner farm near Roslyn on Thursday. Wagner, President of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council says it’s a great opportunity to show the Taiwanese the U.S. can continually supply them with the corn they want and need.

One of those with the trade team is Michael Lu, the director of the U.S. Grains Council office in Taiwan. He says Taiwanese buyers like the quality of both South Dakota and U.S. corn and like seeing the crop as it’s being harvested.

Wagner says he’s getting 240 bushels an acre and it’s great to be able to show the Taiwanese first hand his bumper crop.

Lu says their trade team is very impressed with how the corn looks on Wagner’s farm.

The group also is touring the Laron Krause farm near Clear Lake and Mark Gross farm near Bridgewater and meeting with SDSU extension specialists in Brookings.
