Taiwan Signs Letter Of Intent To Buy U.S. Corn

A Taiwanese delegation In Washington D.C. this week will sign a letter of intent with the U.S. Grains Council committing to buy 5 million metric tons of U.S. corn and 0.5 million metric tons of corn co products valued at $ 1.23 billion. Grains Council Chairman and Nebraska grower Alan Tiemann says this sale should help restore the U.S. market share in that country.
Tiemann says having a Grains Council office in Taiwan has helped build the relationships necessary to foster good trade.
Taiwan’s trade team while in Washington D.C. will also meet with U.S. Wheat Associates, the U.S. Soybean Export Council, the North American Grain Association and the National Grain and Feed Association as well as with U.S. government officials.
