Taiwan’s Agricultural Goodwill Mission team that visits the United States every two years is in the country this week. The group announced purchase agreements for U.S. soybeans, wheat, corn and dried distillers grains for the years 2020 and 2021. U.S. Grains Council Chairman Darren Armstrong says they’ve been a great customer for the U.S. for a number of years and not only come to buy product but also to see the crops.
He says Taiwan is the second biggest customer per capita for the U.S.
Armstrong says this Taiwan group agreed to purchase 197 million bushels of corn and 500,000 tons of U.S. distiller’s dried grains with solubles. He says they really like the quality of America’s corn and DDGs.
Taiwan is the eighth largest market for U.S.agricultural products led by U.S. grains with a total value of $4.3 billion in 2018.
