Today, Taiwanese trade members are in North Dakota where they’re signing) a memorandum of understanding to purchase a significant amount of U.S. hard red spring wheat. North Dakota Wheat Commission Marketing Specialist Erica Olson says Taiwan is consistently a top ten market for U.S. wheat. She says this purchase is a two year deal.
She says the sale is noteworthy due to the tough world competition for wheat markets.
Olson says Taiwan wants high quality wheat and that’s what they like about the U.S. product.
Taiwan has done business with North Dakota’s wheat producers for more than 50 years. The signing ceremony will take place at the North Dakota State Capitol.
