The American Petroleum Institute has certified Biosynthetic technologies for its motor oil containing a synthetic ester made from high oleic soybean oil. United Soybean Board Oil Action Team Chair Lewis Bainbridge who farms near Ethan, South Dakota says this is an exciting value added product for producers and good for consumers.
The certification means the product could be available within the next two years. Bainbridge says this certification will likely mean big demand for U.S. soybeans.
Bainbridge says hopefully this will lead to more farmers growing high oleic soybeans on their farms.
Bainbridge says the high oleic soybeans produce oil that delivers higher stability in high heat situations. He says that makes the oil more attractive to premium industrial users.
