Syngenta officials recently replied to some Senator’s concerns about national security issues that may result from the acquisition of their company by ChemChina. Syngenta officials dispute any national security concerns. However, Iowa Farmers Union President Jana Linderman disagrees and sees the merger as negative for agriculture.
She says this type of merger will decrease the amount of money for ag research.
Linderman says concentration is also a problem with the marriage of two major agronomy companies like Syngenta and ChemChina.
Linderman says she’s glad questions are being raised by Congress concerning the trend towards large agricultural mergers.
