The merger of Syngenta with ChemChina has generated some concern in the agricultural industry regarding concentration and national security issues. However, Paul Minehart, Head of Syngenta Corporate Communications, says their board believes the transaction is in the best interest of the shareholders, the industry and farmers. He says they’re just waiting for the green light from regulators.
Minehart says Syngenta is and will continue to be focused on strong ethics, reporting and regulation compliance in their business. He says they will be keeping the Syngenta brand, so farmers will see little change in business from the company, except the ramp up of research and technology releases.
He says the acquisition of Syngenta by ChemChina won’t have an impact on the current Viptera litigation which is proceeding in the courts.
He says they continue to stand by their claim that there is no merit to the Viptera lawsuit.
