Farmers who’ve been dealing with low commodity prices and the negative effects of the pandemic need to look closely at enhancing their soil health. South Dakota Corn Grower’s Association’s Sustainability Director Jim Ristau says by improving soil health, producers not only help their bottom line they also benefit the environment.

He says during harvest time is a good opportunity to keep up on soil health practices and make adjustments as needed.

Ristau says South Dakota’s farmers have a great opportunity to access a new program which can help them improve their sustainability as well as their soil health. He says SDSU’s every acre counts is worth looking at.

Ristau says anyone having questions concerning soil health can contact him at South Dakota corn and those interested in every acre counts should go to the SDSU Extension website.
