The State of South Dakota rolled over eighty-six million dollars into a special reserve fund at the end of the fiscal year on June 30th.
That was a combination of increased tax revenues and underbudget spending. The state now has over three hundred million dollars in all reserve funds.

The state got almost three billion dollars in federal funds last year and will get over nine hundred million this year.
Senator Jean Hunhoff of Yankton, Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Appropriations, says there are many restrictions on the use of the money…

Hunhoff says this is where the reserve funds come into play…

Hunhoff says ongoing expenses will be the biggest worry in the future…

Hunhoff is a member of a special task force that will make recommendations on how to spend the next round of federal funds.
