Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts has announced a new pay incentive plan for workers at state prison and other 24 – 7 state facilities.

The plan involves bonuses for workers with the Departments of Correctional Services, Health and Human Services and Veterans Affairs.

Senator Tom Briese of Albion says he supports the bonus plan..

Briese says those workers are stressed by the overtime demands…

The legislature set aside some dollars for preliminary design work for a new prison.
Briese says they may have to move in that direction..

Cost estimates for a new prison have run over two hundred fifty million dollars.
