Support Growing For Cattle Market Transparency Legislation

15 state cattle groups have joined the Nebraska Cattlemen Association in backing Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer’s Cattle Market Transparency legislation. Nebraska Cattlemen Association President Ken Herz says it’s positive to have such great support for the measure and hopefully will help in getting it approved.

He says giving cattle producers more information will help them in making better marketing decisions and Fischer’s bill provides that.

Herz says one of the most important components of the Cattle Market Transparency Act is the price discovery section.

Also included in the legislation is a cattle contract library, a 14 day packer purchase commitment outlook, and clarification of Livestock Mandatory Price Reporting confidentiality guidelines to avoid non reporting of collected data on a regional and national basis.
