City, county and chamber representatives from Yankton recently met with officials in Washington to talk about the future of the Yankton Federal Prison Camp.
There was a report this spring that the camp could be on a list of potential closings.
Yankton Mayor Nathan Johnson says the state’s Congressional delegation is working to prevent any changes……
Johnson says the prison is operating normally……
Johnson says there is strong support in the community for the prison…..
The prison uses the former campus of Yankton College, which closed in 1984.
