Second-graders at Sunset Heights Elementary School in Webster City are vowing to go without showers or baths for seven days starting on Saturday. Dawn Scholtens (SHOLE-tens) is organizing the “shower strike” as about 120 kids and their teachers are pledging not to bathe for a week to raise money to dig wells in the African nation of Kenya. It’s the fifth year for the fundraiser at Sunset.
The school team is known as the Sunset Stinkers and a host of related projects are underway.
