Next week, Tuesday through Thursday, National Sunflower Association members hold their annual meeting in Alexandria, Minnesota. NSA Executive Director John Sandbakken says one of their major topics will be trade. He says they’ll hear from Jason Hafmeister, the trade advisor to U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue.
He says America’s sunflower farmers haven’t felt the brunt of any tariff retaliation from the current trade war.
Sandbakken says sunflower growers major concern is with the North American Free Trade Agreement talks since Canada and Mexico are the two best customers for U.S..sunflowers.
South Dakota and North Dakota are the top two sunflower growing states.
