The Summit League Men’s Basketball Tournament ranked among the top-10 for highest average attendance during the 2015-16 Division I season according to the NCAA’s attendance report.
Among 22 traditional mid-major leagues, The Summit ranked second for highest average tournament attendance.
With a league record 9,165 fans per session at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, The Summit League placed eighth out of 31 tournaments across Division I. Outside of the “power five”, The Summit ranked third out of the remaining 26 conferences.
The Summit League’s total attendance figure of 36,661 was 14th overall, despite it tying for the third-fewest number of sessions (four) of the 31 conference tournaments.
The Summit League averaged 2,006 fans per game during the regular season, placing it 13th among mid-majors and 23rd overall.
Omaha ranked 30th on the NCAA’s list of largest average attendance increase over the previous season. The Mavericks drew 2,265 fans per game, up 65 percent over the previous year, in their first season at Baxter Arena.
