Area players are in the spotlight with this week’s Summit League soccer awards.

 Omaha’s Chelsi Rohloff and South Dakota State’s Diana Potterveld were named The Summit League’s Women’s Soccer Offensive Players of the Week while South Dakota’s Mackenzie Viktor was named the Defensive Player of the Week for their performances Sept. 29 – Oct. 5.

 

OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Chelsi Rohloff, Omaha

Jr. // F // Papillion, Neb.

Rohloff collects her first career Offensive Player of the Week award after guiding Omaha to a 1-0-1 week. She scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the second overtime period, in the Mavericks’ 3-2 win at Denver. UNO became the first league team to defeat the Pioneers since they joined The Summit League last season. The junior also contributed two shots in UNO’s 0-0 draw at South Dakota. For the week, Rohloff scored two goals for four points with a .400 shot percentage.

 

Diana Potterveld, South Dakota State

Jr. // F // Fort Collins, Colo.

Potterveld earns her second career Offensive Player of the Week honor after collecting four points in a pair of 2-1 South Dakota State victories. The junior scored the first Jackrabbit goal vs. IUPUI in the 54th minute. SDSU earned the win in the final seconds as Potterveld’s shot was deflected off a Jaguar player, resulting in an own goal. In Sunday’s win over Western Illinois, she was credited with an assist on both SDSU goals. For the week, Potterveld had one goal, two assists and four points off of five shots in the wins.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mackenzie Viktor, South Dakota

Viktor registers Defensive Player of the Week honors after collecting a pair of shutouts for South Dakota. In Friday’s 0-0 double overtime draw against Omaha, the junior recorded nine saves in 110 minutes in net. She followed that up with a flawless outing in a 1-0 victory over Fort Wayne collecting one save while helping hold the Mastodons to just two shots in the match. For the week, Viktor had 10 saves with a perfect save percentage and goals against average.
