The Summit League announced its 2015-16 men’s basketball schedule with each of the nine teams slated to play a 16-game double round-robin schedule beginning Wednesday, Dec. 30.
The schedule tips off with Oral Roberts at Fort Wayne on Wednesday, Dec. 30. Six teams open play on New Year’s Day, headlined by Omaha’s inaugural Summit League game at the new Baxter Arena. The Mavericks, eligible for the league title for the first time after completing their five-year Division I transition, host Western Illinois while Denver at South Dakota State and IUPUI at South Dakota round out the day’s schedule.
Defending Summit League Tournament champion North Dakota State is the last team to open league play, hosting Denver on Sunday, January 3.
The Bison host South Dakota State on Saturday, Jan. 16 in the initial rematch of the 2015 Summit League Championship Game. The defending regular season co-champions meet again on Thursday, Feb. 25 in Brookings to open the final weekend of league play.
Saturday, Feb. 27 marks the final day of the regular season schedule. Matchups feature Oral Roberts at South Dakota State, North Dakota State at Denver, South Dakota at Western Illinois and Fort Wayne at IUPUI.
The 2016 Summit League Men’s Basketball Championship is set for March 5-8 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
