South Dakota State’s cross country athletes, Trent Lusignan and Rachel King, were named The Summit League’s Athlete of the Week for their performance Sept. 7-14.
This is Lusignan’s fifth career Athlete of the Week and King’s first after competing in only two collegiate meets.
Lusignan, a senior from Shakopee, Minn., won the Oz Memorial on Sept. 11 and recorded the league’s fastest 6K time of the 2015 season (18:40.6). After spending the 2014 season injured, Lusignan has made a strong comeback for his senior season.
A freshman from St. Michael, Minn., King has captured her first Athlete of the Week after leading the Jackrabbits to a third place finish at the Oz Memorial. King clocked a time of 22:44.3 placing ninth overall and was the third-best time by a freshman.
The Jackrabbits will compete again Sept. 26 at the Roy Griak Invitational at Falcon Heights, Minn.
