Weekly basketball honors in the Summit League go to a South Dakota State men’s player and a South Dakota women’s player.
South Dakota State’s Mike Daum was named the Summit League’s Player of the Week for his efforts against Alabama State and Kansas, announced Monday by the league office.
Daum posted double-doubles in both games last week, averaging 25.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per contest. He shot 50 percent from the field (16 of 32) and hit eight 3-pointers while going 11-for-13 at the charity stripe.
South Dakota junior guard Allison Arens has been named the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Arens collects the honor for the first time this season and third time of her career. Arens averaged 16 points, 7.5 rebounds and a pair of steals in leading the Coyotes to wins over Creighton and Wichita State. The junior scored 15 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter as the Coyotes defeated the defending co-Big East champion Bluejays 73-68. She added 13 points and nine rebounds, including four offensive boards, in South Dakota’s 62-48 road victory at Wichita State.
