Summit League basketball Player of the Week honors have gone to athletes from South Dakota State and South Dakota.

For the 12th time in his storied career, South Dakota State’s Mike Daum was named The Summit League men’s Player of the Week following a trio of Jackrabbit victories during the opening week of the men’s college basketball season.

Daum recorded double-doubles in three home wins for the Jacks, who extended the nation’s longest home-court winning streak to 23 games with wins over Grand Canyon, Alabama State and Bemidji State.

University of South Dakota junior forward Taylor Frederick has been named The Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after a stellar opening weekend for the Yotes.

Frederick helped lead South Dakota to a road victory over Creighton University with a career-high 26 points. Frederick and the Yotes were one of just two Summit League squads to post a 2-0 record in the first week of the season with their home win over Incarnate Word.
